We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our much loved volunteer, Ken Johnson.
He was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and always happy to give his time. Ken was a child during the Second World War and had many interesting stories to tell. You could chat to him for hours and always come away having learnt something new.
Ken gave a number of talks in St George’s RAF Chapel of Remembrance including, ‘Hitler’s V Weapons,’ ‘The SOE’ and ‘Wings for Victory.’
Here he is talking about V2 rockets:
He also researched and compiled biographies for the Book of Remembrance.
Ken gave us two photos of himself as a child, to go alongside his final talk, ‘Ken’s Wartime Memories.’ He spoke of being evacuated at the end of the war and shared memories of the Blitz.
Ken will be greatly missed by staff and volunteers. Our deepest condolences to all his family and friends.
