Father Gerry Flood

It is with much sadness that we learnt of the death of Father Gerry Flood on the evening of Sunday 19th April. Father Gerry had served Biggin Hill for over 30 years at St Theresa’s. Significantly, he was appointed the Roman Catholic Officiating Chaplain to the Military when he arrived shortly before RAF Biggin Hill was closed and retained that role for many years thereafter at the RAF Chapel itself, until the RAF relinquished ownership of it. He was a keen advocate of the Memorial Museum and took part enthusiastically in discussions during the development and build stages of the project. Due to hospitalisation in late 2018, and later convalescence at a local care home, Father Gerry had been unable – much to his disappointment – to visit the Museum once it had opened. We will miss him dearly. May God rest his soul.
