Looking for something to do over the school summer holidays? Come and join in the fun at Biggin Hill Memorial Museum where our theme this season is Secret War. Get your very own Secret Agent Spy ID card then enjoy making a range of exciting objects in our drop-in family craft sessions, including walkie-talkie string telephones, Morse Code bracelets and some spy binoculars. You can learn how to write in invisible ink too!

Keep an eye out for our one-off activity sessions including a 1940s games morningm an Airfix model workshop and a make-do-and-mend session. Check our website for details.

All events are included with the price of a museum entry ticket and run between 11am and 3pm daily, excluding Mondays.

Our family craft drop-in sessions run as follows:
Friday 23rd July – Thursday 29th July: All good spies need to be able to communicate with each other and GCHQ. Make walkie-talkie string telephones in our self-led family drop-in sessions this week.

Friday 30th July – Thursday 5th August: Before the dawn of wireless technology, members of the armed forces used Morse Code to communicate with each other. Make Morse Code bracelets in our self-led family drop-in sessions this week.

Friday July 30th: 1940s games afternoon, 2 – 4pm. Come and have a go at hopscotch, marbles, jacks and more in the museum grounds.

Friday 6th August – Thursday 12th August: Secret communication is vital for spies. Write an invisible secret message and make a pair of spy binoculars so that you can keep track of your enemies in our self-led family drop-in sessions this week.

Friday 6th August:  Make-do-and-mend craft session, 10am until 12 noon. Come and have a go at no-sew bunting and flags.

Friday 13th August – Thursday 19th August: Spies need to be able to crack codes and make codes to pass on to others. Make a Caesar Cipher Code Wheel and a Code Maker in our self-led family drop-in sessions this week.

Friday 20th August – Thursday 26th August: The art of disguise is crucial for spies. Come and make yours during our self-led family drop-in sessions this week.

Wednesday 25th August: Airfix model plane workshops at 11am and 2pm. This event must be pre-booked. See the events section of our website for the link to book your space.

Friday 27th August – Tuesday 31st August: Spies weren’t the only ones who had to decode information quickly. WAAF plotters in the Operations Room had to interpret information at lightning speeds in order to direct planes into combat. See if you can complete our WAAF plotter exercise in our self-led family drop-in sessions this week.
