Battle of Britain Tour at Biggin Hill NOW POSTPONED
Join us on a tour to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
Here is the day’s programme:
10.30am – Start your day with breakfast in the Nightingale Café at Biggin Hill Memorial Museum followed by a tour and talk about the role of Biggin Hill in the Battle of Britain.
12.30pm – Hot buffet lunch in the Nightingale Café
2pm – The next stop is the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar. Founded in early 2011 with the purpose of restoring a single Spitfire it has grown to the point where it has now a whole squadron’s worth and completed its seventh airworthy restoration example. At any one time, the hangar is a hive of activity with several ongoing restorations. In the past, up-close access to Spitfires has been available to only a lucky few, but now you can take a tour around the facility and see at first-hand what goes into putting a Spitfire back in the air, how they are maintained and what is involved in their day to day running. Tours are led by a knowledgeable guide who can describe the history of each aircraft and answer any questions. Group sizes are deliberately kept small, ensuring that visitors can enjoy close, unhindered access to the World’s largest collection of Spitfires in an unmatched historical setting.
4pm – Finish
Cost £65.00 per person
For an optional £30 extra (payable on the day), you can sit in a Spitfire
Please note you will require your own transport to make the 5 minute journey from the Museum to the Hangar.
