About this object23 Squadron: A formation of Hawker Demons. The squadron was based at Biggin Hill from September 1932 to December 1936. The Demon was a fighter variant of the Hawker Hart light bomber. 23 Squadron at Biggin Hill was the first RAF unit to be equipped with these two seat fighters which were to see only second line operations during the Second World War.
In September 1980 RAF Biggin Hill gathered together a collection of photographs from museums, commercial organisations and private individuals to mount an exhibition to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain. The collection was passed on to Bob Ogley when the RAF withdrew from Biggin Hill on 19th June 1992.
