This photo was taken shortly before the ops room was destroyed by a 500 lb bomb on 18th August 1940. As a result of the action on this day two Military Medals were awarded to WAAF NCO's.
Most of the WAAFs in this photo have been identified only by their surname although Christian names have been furnished we are unable to match the Christian names to surnames.
In September 1980 RAF Biggin Hill gathered together a collection of photographs from museums, commercial and private individuals to mount an exhibition to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain. The collection was passed on to Bob Ogley when the RAF withdrew from Biggin Hill.
