Grubby used this flying map on operations in London and the South East. It is marked ‘Strictly private’ and there is even a warning to those who may try to take it. On 15th August 1940 his aircraft caught fire and he ditched into the sea. The injuries and trauma he sustained that day put an end to his flying career forever but he had survived. Grice lived to the ripe age of 78.
