Peter flew out of Biggin Hill with No.72 Sqn. and was shot down over Kent. He parachuted down into a field near Sittingbourne, Kent and suffered minor burns and some broken burns. He wrote to the Irvine Chute company to apply to be a member of the Caterpillar Club.
In 1942 Peter was flying as part of the Dieppe Raid when he was shot down over the Channel, he was not seen again.
